Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory experience; demonstrated leadership/knowledge and understanding of curriculum development, program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research related to learning. 
  • Provides instructional guidance and enhances articulation in curriculum alignment – benchmarks development and implementation of assessments, and the implementation of highly effective instructional strategies tailored to meet our students’ needs.  Conducts formal and informal evaluations, and provide professional development for teachers of Mandarin Chinese, French, Latin, Italian, Spanish, Spanish Native language and English as New Language aligned with the NYS World Language Standards.
  • Supervises FLES programs at the elementary schools, conduct evaluations, curriculum development and alignment, and provide professional development aligned with NYS World Language Standards.

Special Education Teacher - Special Class

The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher for Special Class. Successful candidates must have NYS Teacher Certification pending approval of the 2024-2025 School Budget.

Responsibilities include:

Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction as aligned with grade level content.

Conducting individualized criterion-referenced inventories of behavior repertoires (assessments) for all students on an annual basis.

Provide individualized instruction to all students with a minimum per student and measures, graphs, and analyzes all student's progress on all IEP objectives daily.

Analyzes student progress on a daily or moment to moment basis and working closely with Behavior Analyst Supervisors to design phase and change and note objectives for each student.

Work with Behavior Analyst on the development of curricula and behavior procedures to be followed in the class.

Carrying out and maintaining all instructional aspects of a student’s IEP.

Completing progress reports and Annual Review reports for the IEPs.

Delivering classroom instructional programs and adjusting based on the needs of the students.

Maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to instruction.

School Psychologist

Under the general supervision of the Director of Pupil Services, the responsibilities of the School Psychologist include:

  • Collaborate with educators, parents/guardians and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students.
  • Administer a variety of assessments to evaluate students' cognitive abilities, academic skills, and social-emotional functioning.
  • Provide individual counseling to students facing challenges such as learning difficulties, behavioral issues, social struggles, or emotional distress. 
  • Facilitate group counseling sessions to address common issues experienced by students, such as anxiety, anger management, stress reduction, social skills development, or grief counseling.
  • Support students and staff on how to cope with trauma, facilitate crisis debriefings, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the well-being of the school community.
  • Develop and implement programs to prevent and address issues such as bullying, substance abuse, self-harm, and mental health disorders.
  • Collect and analyze data related to students' academic progress, behavior patterns, and social-emotional functioning.
  • Maintain detailed records of assessments, counseling sessions, and interventions. Prepare reports, summarize findings, and make recommendations for students, parents, and relevant educational professionals.
  • Participate and chair Committee on Special Education meetings and Section 504 meetings.
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor.
  • Adhere to all applicable Federal and New York State Board of Education rules and regulations and The City School District of New Rochelle.
