The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking to hire an engaging educator to fill an anticipated probationary Middle School Social Studies position beginning September of 2024.  The district is seeking candidates who:

• Hold high expectations for all students and deeply value the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion
• Possess experience implementing Culturally Responsive Teaching practices and vast experience working with diverse populations
• Have a strong commitment to supporting the academic as well as the social/emotional well-being of students
• Understand early adolescent development
• Demonstrate a deep capacity for utilizing research-informed learning strategies, data-driven instructional practices, professional development and self-reflection to improve student outcomes
• Possess a thorough understanding of how to use differentiated instruction to actively and meaningfully engage students in learning subject area content and skills
• Can successfully implement instructional frameworks that cultivate critical literacy skills
• Possess extensive knowledge of New York State K-12 Social Studies Framework and New York State   Next Generation Learning Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies
• Will dynamically integrate learning technologies and digital resources
• Can collaborate well with the Humanities Team, special educators, ENL teachers, grade level teams, counselors and clinicians 
• Consistently involve and communicate with students and their families to support effective learning
• ALL applicants must possess the appropriate professional licenses for teaching Social Studies in at least grades 7 and 8 in New York State (additional NYSED licenses/extensions that include 6th grade are also encouraged)
