The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a dedicated and collaborative School Psychologist to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of students. The School Psychologist plays a critical role in evaluation, intervention, counseling, and consultation, while partnering with educators, families, and community providers to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consultation & Collaboration Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and service providers to address student needs
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams (e.g., MTSS, CST, CSE, 504)
  • Provide staff consultation and professional development on interventions, behavior strategies, and social-emotional supports
  • Maintain consistent communication with families and outside providers Assessment & Evaluation
  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for initial referrals and reevaluations
  • Administer and interpret cognitive, academic, and social-emotional assessments

The Assistant Director of Special Education for Secondary Schools - assists in the overall supervision, direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff serving Students with Disabilities in the Special Education Department at the assigned schools. Responsibilities include oversight of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) in accordance with the City School District of New Rochelle’s District policies and NYSED Part 200 Regulations. Reports to: Director of Special Education and Building Principal

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in the direction and management of all special education programs and services to meet student needs.
  • Assist in the necessary professional development resources, and materials to support staff in the accomplishment of special education goals. 
  • Keep abreast of developments in special education regulations and make decisions on staff and student issues regarding compliance and procedural safeguards.
  • Consult with building leadership to implement special education initiatives. 
  • Ensure the safety of students and compliance with ADA, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Conduct special education training and meetings to keep administration and district staff knowledgeable about policy changes, new programs, current best practices, and other pertinent information regarding special education.
  • Provide consultative services in the maintenance and confidentiality of student records.
  • Ensure that special education staff is in compliance with IDEA.
