The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a qualified and dedicated candidate for a leave replacement Biology teaching position at New Rochelle High School. Familiarity with the new science standards (NYSSLS/NGSS) required.

 

Candidates considered based on their knowledge to do the following:

 

1. Demonstrate ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.

2. Motivate, engage, and challenge students with a wide variety of teaching strategies and use of differentiation tools.

3. Conduct and utilize ongoing assessments of student achievement, using both formative and summative assessments

4. Utilize technology to create innovative lessons, and use of data collection practices to improve pedagogical practices and student performance.

5. Develop and implement the newly adopted New York State Science Standards (NYSSLS/NGSS) in writing lesson plans and authentic tasks.

 6. Effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, and other school stakeholders to monitor student growth.

Part Time - Latin Teacher

The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part Time - Latin Teacher to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate will be committed to cultivating students’ Latin language proficiency and fostering a deep appreciation for classical culture through standards-based instruction aligned with the New York State World Language Standards.

 

Essential Functions

  • Lesson Design & Instruction
    • Design, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with NYS World Language standards to develop Latin language proficiency.
    • Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, visual aids, and hands-on activities to meet diverse learning needs.
    • Implement a balanced program that promotes student inquiry, observation, and critical thinking.

 

  • Assessment & Feedback
    • Evaluate student performance regularly and accurately using formative and summative assessments.
    • Provide constructive and timely feedback to support student growth and achievement.
    • Administer and support local and state testing procedures as required.

 

  • Technology Integration
    • Incorporate computers, audio-visual tools, and digital resources to enhance instruction and student engagement.
  • Student Support
    • Provide individualized support and intervention strategies for students needing additional help.
    • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages participation and risk-taking in language learning.

 

  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the World Language Department and across disciplines to enhance curriculum and instructional practices.
    • Maintain open lines of communication with families and school personnel to support student success.

 

  • Professional Duties
    • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, department planning, and professional learning opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
    • Maintain accurate student records in compliance with district policies and legal requirements.
    • Complete routine administrative tasks such as attendance, grading, email/phone correspondence, and classroom organization.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by school or district leadership.
