The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Part Time High School Dance Teacher position. Under the general supervision of the Principal and Director of Pre K-12 Performing and Visual Arts.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

• Teach dance to students in the auditioned PAVE I Dance program at New Rochelle High School
• Develop and implement a dynamic, student-centered curriculum that fosters a love of dance and the arts while building empathy, creativity, and analytical skills.
• Plan daily lessons that promote high levels of student engagement.
• Assess and evaluate student performance, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Direct student performances and collaborate with colleagues on productions as needed.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with administrators, colleagues, and parents.
• Actively participate in professional development opportunities.
• Attend faculty and department meetings, field trips, special activities, and related duties.
• Coordinate enrichment activities and assemblies to enhance the student learning experience.
• Collaborate with colleagues within and beyond the Department of Performing & Visual Arts.

 

Qualifications:

• Holds New York State Certification in Dance
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching
• Demonstrated knowledge of dance pedagogy appropriate for middle school
• Superior organizational skills
• Understands successful techniques for motivating high school students
• Professional performance proficiency
• Displays sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of students and community members
• Has a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

 

Job Qualifications

NYS Certification is required at time of application
