MS Orchestra Teacher Probationary

The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a Middle School Orchestra Teacher Probationary position. Under the general supervision of the Principal and Director of Pre K-12 Performing and Visual Arts.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  • Plans, develops, and carries out a quality program of sequential instruction in winds and percussion for middle school band students through lessons and classes in both small and large ensemble settings.
  • Recommends placement of grade 8 students in the high school band ensembles to the Director of Visual and Performing Arts and guidance staff.
  • Prepares students for NYSSMA Solo Festival auditions, PAVE Wind & Percussion auditions, and NYSSMA Majors
  • Presents periodic concerts to the school and community featuring the band ensembles.
  • Maintains appropriate records of student achievement for all students assigned to classes in the band program.
  • Recruits prospective band students from our elementary schools to enroll in our middle school programs.
  • Collaborates with department colleagues in the high school and elementary schools to maintain and enhance a quality program.

Responsibilities include:

 Design lessons, delivers high quality instruction, assesses student work, maintains a record of student achievement, corresponds with parents, and effectively communicates with students.

  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse education, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students served, as well as the NYSED curriculum requirements.

The successful candidate must have NYS Special Education Teacher Certification and experience working with children with Autism and related disabilities. Application of the principles of ABA across all domains, including academic, communication, social and behavioral.

Provide individualized instruction to all students with a minimum per student and measures, graphs, and analyzes all student's progress on all IEP objectives daily. 

Analyze student progress on a daily or moment to moment basis. 

Work closely with Behavior Intervention Specialists to design, phase, change, and note objectives for each student.

Carry out and maintain all instructional aspects of a student’s IEP. 

Complete progress reports and Annual Review reports for the IEPs. 

Deliver classroom instructional programs and maintain a classroom environment conducive to instruction.
