The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a talented, dynamic, and innovative candidate for a full-time, tenure-track ELA teaching position at the Grade 6 level. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the New York State Next Generation ELA Learning Standards and skilled in engaging a diverse student population. Start Date: 03/2/2026 - mid June, Isaac E. Young Middle School. Applicants must hold appropriate New York State teaching certification at the time of application. Grade 8 ELA Leave Replacement Teacher Certification: 7-12 English

• Dedication to creating a safe, purposeful, positive classroom environment that prioritizes learning and a love for literacy.
• Design and implement differentiated instruction and small group strategies to meet varied student needs.
• Use data to inform and drive instructional decisions. Integrate technology into ELA instruction.
• Collaborate effectively as part of a professional team.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
•  Dual certification in ESL or a Reading/Literacy Extension is a plus.

 

Selection Criteria:

 

• Extensive knowledge of New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and the New York State Culturally Response-Sustaining Education Framework with the ability to implement aligned instruction.
• Dedication to creating a safe, purposeful, and engaging classroom environment that fosters a love of literacy.
• Familiarity with current pedagogical research and best practices in reading and writing instruction, including culturally responsive teaching.
• Strong commitment to student success and accountability for academic progress.
• Proven ability to monitor student growth and use data to differentiate instruction effectively.
• Proficiency in integrating technology into lesson planning and delivery (e.g., Google Classroom).
• Broad and current knowledge of middle school literature.
• Ability to collaborate productively with colleagues, specialists, and outside agencies.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development and continuous improvement

 

Job Qualifications

NYS Certification is required at time of application.
