The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a part-time (.2 FTE) Elementary General Music Teacher. Reports To: Principal and Director of PreK–12 Performing & Visual Arts.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Plans, develops, and implements a high-quality sequential music program aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and National Core Arts Standards for students in grades K–2, including mixed-grade self-contained special education classes.
  • Provides students with opportunities to develop musical skills through singing, playing melodic and rhythmic classroom instruments, movement, listening, and creative expression.
  • Promotes music literacy and musicianship through developmentally appropriate instructional approaches, including Kodály, Orff Schulwerk, Gordon Music Learning Theory, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and other research based methodologies.
  • Prepares and supports grade-level music assemblies and school performances.
  • Plans and presents periodic evening concerts and performances that showcase student learning for families and the community.
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement.
  • Collaborates with music colleagues throughout the district and with school staff to maintain and enhance the quality of the music program.
  • Communicates regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program activities.
  • Participates in school and district initiatives and collaborates with colleagues within and outside the arts department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal and Director of PreK–12 Performing & Visual Arts.
  • Qualifications Holds New York State Certification in Music.
  • Demonstrates excellence in elementary music instruction.
  • Possesses knowledge of age appropriate vocal, instrumental, and movement-based music repertoire.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of child development and effective instructional strategies for elementary learners.
  • Exhibits strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency as a performer on a primary instrument or voice.
  • Demonstrates functional piano skills to support classroom instruction.

The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a part-time (.2 FTE) Elementary Art Teacher. Reports To: Principal and Director of PreK–12 Performing & Visual Arts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, and implements a high-quality sequential visual arts program aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and National Core Arts Standards for students in grades K–2, including mixed-grade self-contained special education classes.
  • Provides students with opportunities to develop artistic skills through drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and other two- and three-dimensional art experiences.
  • Promotes artistic literacy, creativity, and critical thinking through developmentally appropriate instruction using a variety of instructional approaches, including Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) and other research-based methodologies.
  •  Provides individual, small-group, and whole-group instruction that supports the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Adapts instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, interests, and learning styles.
  • Instructs students in the safe and appropriate use, care, and storage of art materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintains and organizes classroom materials and equipment to promote efficient use and stewardship of district resources.
  • Recommends classroom art supplies and instructional materials as part of the annual budget process.
  • Plans and presents student art displays and exhibitions within the school and throughout the community.

Special Education Teacher SC 12:1:1

The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher for a Special Class setting (12:1:1). Successful candidates must have NYS Teacher Certification.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Delivery of Specially Designed Instruction as aligned with grade level content.
  • Provide individualized instruction to all students with a minimum per student and measures, graphs, and analyzes all students’ progress on all IEP objectives daily.
  • Work with Behavior Analyst on the development of curricula and behavior procedures to be followed in the class.
  • Carrying out and maintaining all instructional aspects of a student’s IEP.
  • Completing progress reports and Annual Review reports for the IEPs.
  • Delivering classroom instructional programs and adjusting based on the needs of the students.
  • Maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to instruction.
