The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a Music Teacher for a full time Leave Replacement Elementary Instrumental Music (Strings) Teaching Position for the remainder of the 2025- 2026 School Year. Reports to: Director of PK-12 Performing & Visual Arts, Elementary School & Building Principals Performance.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Plans, develops and carries out a quality program of sequential instruction in string orchestra for elementary school orchestra students through lessons and classes in both small and large ensemble settings at assigned elementary school buildings
  •  Presents periodic concerts to the school and community featuring the orchestral ensembles.
  • Maintains appropriate records of student achievement for all students assigned to classes in the orchestra program.
  • Recruits prospective string orchestra students in elementary schools to enroll in orchestra programs.
  • Collaborates with department colleagues to maintain and enhance a quality string orchestra program.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians of orchestra students on a regular basis.
  • Facilitates the students’ and the director’s participation in county, state and national programs through WCSMA, NYSSMA, NAfME and WCALA as appropriate.
  • Works with building and district administration to develop appropriate achievement goals for students in each of the orchestral ensembles.
  • Aligns instruction with the National/State Standards.
  • Collaborates with colleagues within and outside the arts department in New Rochelle schools on school or district initiatives.
  • Perform such other duties as directed by the Director of PK-12 Performing & Visual Arts and Building Principals
