The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a candidate certified in Secondary, 7-12 Students with Disabilities for a therapeutic classroom setting for standardized students. This is a probationary position for the 2024-2025 School Year pending approval of the School Budget.

Appropriate 7-12 NYS certification Students with Disabilities required (ELA & Social Studies)

Multiple SOCE certifications preferred.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training (TCI) / Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI) preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan lessons, deliver high quality instruction based on NYS Standards, grade student work, maintain a record of grades, correspond with parents and effectively communicate with students
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
  • Prepare for and participate in student CSE meetings to facilitate student progress and aide in the identification of plans to address student support needs
  • Attend and participate in Special Education Department meetings and complete required Professional Development
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance with student IEPs
  • Access and competently utilize IEP program to progress monitor for student goals and for IEP completion
  • Utilize curriculum resources and differentiate instruction to meet learner support needs

NYS Certification is required

Spanish Teacher - Secondary

The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking highly qualified candidates for a secondary spanish position pending approval of the 2024-2025 School Budget. 

Qualifications:

  • NYS Certification in Spanish 7-12
  • Native or native-like fluency in Spanish
  • Preference will be given to candidates with multiple language certifications and/or ENL certification

Responsibilities Include:

  • Teach 5 sections of secondary Spanish at various levels.
  • Plan, prepare and facilitate engaging, standards-aligned, student-centered lessons to develop students’ language skills in Spanish and build their enthusiasm for hispanophone cultures.
  • Assess students’ performance accurately and regularly while providing thoughtful, meaningful and actionable feedback for improvement, and communicating results to students, parents and colleagues in a timely manner.
  • Develop trusting, supportive relationships with students.
  • Teach and nurture the social-emotional learning of children.
  • Provide a safe and stimulating environment for all students, encouraging student participation.
  • Maintain an open channel of consistent communication with parents and other school personnel.
  • Model the district’s values in all communications with students, families, and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with peers in the World Language Department.
  • Engage in professional learning sessions throughout the year.
