JOB DESCRIPTION:

Middle School Science/Biology Teacher - Anticipated Leave Replacement The City School District of New Rochelle seeks a qualified and dedicated candidate for an anticipated leave replacement for a Middle School Science/Biology teacher. The position will be available from the middle/end of May through the end of the school year. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong background in the content area, extensive knowledge of the new P-12 New York State Science Standards, and experience with delivering lessons to support Biology Regents-level and middle school science courses. Candidates must possess appropriate New York State certification in 7-12 Biology and the following skills: Deliver standards-based instruction aligned to the P-12 New York State Science Learning Standards to support student achievement. Design and implement lesson plans, assessments, and projects that meet the diverse learning needs of students. Demonstrate an ability to motivate, engage, challenge, and instruct students through research-based strategies. Prepare Life Science Biology students for the Regents Exam Demonstrate an understanding of early adolescent development. Maintain effective and ongoing communication with students, parents/guardians, and building administration about student progress and classroom activities. Possess a passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
