The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking candidates for a part time Dance Teacher (.2 FTE)
Reports to: Principal & Director of Pre K-12 Performing and Visual Arts
Performance Responsibilities:
Teach dance to students in the auditioned PAVE I Dance program at New Rochelle High School
Develop and implement a dynamic, student-centered curriculum that fosters a love of dance and the arts while building empathy, creativity, and analytical skills.
Plan daily lessons that promote high levels of student engagement.
Assess and evaluate student performance, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Direct student performances and collaborate with colleagues on productions as needed.
Communicate professionally and effectively with administrators, colleagues, and parents.
Actively participate in professional development opportunities.
Attend faculty and department meetings, field trips, special activities, and related duties.
Coordinate enrichment activities and assemblies to enhance the student learning experience.
Collaborate with colleagues within and beyond the Department of Performing & Visual Arts.
Qualifications:
Holds New York State Certification in Dance
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Demonstrated knowledge of dance pedagogy appropriate for middle school
Superior organizational skills
Understands successful techniques for motivating high school students
Professional performance proficiency
Displays sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of students and community members
Has a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
NYS Certification is required at the time of application
