The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a NYS dual certified Special Education

teacher for a middle school probationary appointment. Applicants must be certified in both Special Education

7-12 and General Science 7-12. This is for a full-time, tenure track

teaching position beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

 

Successful candidates will:

 

• Demonstrate the ability to design lessons, deliver high quality instruction and differentiate to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Demonstrate experience using data analysis protocols to help drive instructional planning and support student needs
• Demonstrate experience using data analysis protocols to help drive instructional planning and support student needs
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the P-12 New York State Science Learning Standards
• Prepare for and participate in student CSE meetings to discuss student progress and aid in the identification of plans to address student support needs, programming and support services
• Attend and participate in Special Department meetings and complete required Professional Development
• Develop and implement accommodations and modifications aligned with students’ IEP’’s while maintaining access to grade level science curriculum and standards.
• Utilize multisensory, explicit, and scaffolded instructional strategies to support student understanding of scientific concepts and vocabulary.
• Ensure awareness of and compliance with student IEP due dates, with a working knowledge of IEP Direct
• Experience with progress monitoring of student‘s IEP goals, communicating with staff, students and families regarding student progress and areas of need
• Candidates must possess appropriate New York State Certification in both Special Education 7-12 and Science 7-12.
