The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a passionate and dedicated World Language Teacher with a specialization in Spanish to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate will be committed to cultivating students’ Spanish language proficiency and fostering a deep appreciation for Spanish culture through standards-based instruction aligned with the New York State World Language Standards.
Essential Functions
- Lesson Design & Instruction
o Design, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with NYS World Language standards to develop Spanish language proficiency.
o Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, visual aids, and hands-on activities to meet diverse learning needs.
o Implement a balanced program that promotes student inquiry, observation, and critical thinking.
o Evaluate student performance regularly and accurately using formative and summative assessments.
o Provide constructive and timely feedback to support student growth and achievement. o Administer and support local and state testing procedures as required.
o Incorporate computers, audio-visual tools, and digital resources to enhance instruction and student engagement.
o Provide individualized support and intervention strategies for students needing additional help. o Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages participation and risk-taking in language learning.
- Collaboration & Communication
o Work collaboratively with colleagues within the World Language Department and across disciplines to enhance curriculum and instructional practices.
o Maintain open lines of communication with families and school personnel to support student success.
o Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, department planning, and professional learning opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
o Maintain accurate student records in compliance with district policies and legal requirements. o Complete routine administrative tasks such as attendance, grading, email/phone correspondence, and classroom organization.
o Perform other duties as assigned by school or district leadership.
