The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a physical education teacher pending approval of the 2024-2025 School Budget.
Our district views physical education as an essential means to support wellness through the enjoyment of sports and leisure activities. We stress the importance of communication through cooperative team-building activities and a wide variety of instructional practices to ensure every class, every day is inclusive and challenging both physically and cognitively.
We seek to employ an individual who is a pioneer in physical education and is certified to challenge students and colleagues alike to be at their best.
Must be NYS Certified in Physical Education
Responsibilities:
? Develop unit plans that include a well-rounded approach to the domains of learning, physical education, character development, physical fitness, and leisure activities.
? Draw on an extensive repertoire of instructional strategies to promote clear learning targets and content-specific outcomes aligned with national and state standards for all learners including differentiation for language learners and students with disabilities.
? Collaborate with colleagues on the use of facilities and units of study.
? Integrate SEL practices into the instruction of sports, leisure, recreation activities, and games.
? Progress monitor students to support full participation in class and facilitate outreach strategies for students who are not on track for appropriate credit accumulation.
? Maintain record-keeping on student completion of assignments, student progress in learning, and non-instructional records.
? Establish and maintain parent communication.
? Seek out opportunities for professional development and solicit feedback on practice from both supervisors and colleagues.
? Establish a role within the department for decision-making and help ensure that such decisions are based on the highest professional standards.
Requirements & Qualifications:
? New York State Teaching Certificate-Physical Education
? Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Physical Education
? Certification in CPR and Basic First Aid
